10 MOST POPULAR SPORTS FRANCHISES

(The Following is copied from gryphononcowboys.blogspot.com)

ESPN: Ten most popular American sports teams

DANA POINT, Calif. -- In a fortuitous bit of corporate synergy, the NFL and ESPN Sports Poll collaborated on a study to determine the nation's most popular individual pro sports franchises.Owners and team executives viewed the results of the poll this week during their opening gathering at the St. Regis Hotel. NFL teams captured six of the top 10 spots in the poll, including the Black and Blue's own Green Bay Packers at No. 2.By one measure, the poll means that in 2008, the Packers had the second-highest percentage of supporters among all U.S. pro sports franchises."We're a very recognizable brand and I think we still have a national following," Packers president/CEO Mark Murphy said. Here's the full list for 2008:

1. Dallas Cowboys
2. Green Bay Packers
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
4. New England Patriots
5. New York Yankees
6. Los Angeles Lakers
7. Indianapolis Colts
8. Boston Red Sox
9. New York Giants
10. Atlanta Braves

My Super Bowl Pick

My pick of the Cardinals has nothing to do with my hatred for the Squeeelers. Here's my scenario:

Cardinals come out with single back, 3 WR sets. Spread it out. Yes the Steeler "D" is the best this year, but look at their division, Baltimore, Cleveland and Cinci...not one of them is an offensive jaugernaut.

Let them blitz with those 3 WR sets, they'll get burnt. Will they put 8 at the line with Fitzgerald, Boldin and Breaston in single coverage? Hell no. So the Edge just may get 70+ yards on the ground, then there's Hightower with another 30+, and 50+ receiving. I can see 7 in the box for the Steelers, and lots of play-faking for the Cardinals.

Now, talk about defense. Remember when the Colts limped into the playoffs, and then their Run defense woke up and dominated? Well, the Cardinals have played Atlanta (Turner), Carolina (Williams) and the Beagles (Westbrook)...not one of those teams rushed for 100 yards vs. the Big Dead this post season. And ask Delhome about their pass defense.

So, as I see it. The Cardinal defense can match the Squeeeeler defense. Can Pittsburgh's offense match the Cardinals? I don't think they will. I see it Cardinals 31, Squeeeeelers 20

Dan Reeves

I wonder what kind of power he'll be given? I would love to see Wade demoted to DC and hire someone like Shanahan. Oh well, I can dream. His first order of business would be to try to get rid of T.O. His bullshit has become detrimental, his jealousy of Witten borders on gay feelings toward Romo. This team needs discipline.

Rams can have Garrett

Interesting how this dude is supposed to be an offensive genius. Here's an interesting stat, over half of Romo's sacks have come in the final four games every season. And it just so happens that half of his turnovers, INT's and fumbles, have come in those same final four games!

Romo sucks? Maybe to a point. Maybe he takes chances, looks for Witten too damn much. But, why isn't this genius OC making necessary adjustments in the offensive play calling to avoid this kind of trend? Because HE sucks. Since Romo's been a starter he's been sacked 65 times. 33 of those coming in the final 4 games of the seasons. If you're getting pressured like he has been in those games, then you're gonna look like Mark Bulger does every game....shitty!

Since the Cardinal game, the Cowboy opponents knew what was coming, because there was no adjustments in the play calling or the blocking schemes. Ed Reed and Ray Lewis both commented that this was the simplest offense they had seen.

So, c'mon Rams, sign this "genius" now, so the 'Boys can get someone better.

Conference Championships

I picked 3 out of 4 last week. Piss on the Eagles and Steelers. Steelers CANNOT have a chance at a 6th title. GO RAVENS!

For this week:

Eagles @ Cardinals:
Cardinals will avenge the Thanksgiving massacre. Final Score:
Cards-33, Eagles-21

Ravens @ Pittsburgh:
Ed Reed will take over this game. FInal Score:
Ravens-20, Steelers-19
